Caston Comet Golfers competed in the Logansport Invitational today. Comet golfers showed much improvement over last year in what was there 2nd match of the season on the cold and windy morning at Deichman Municipal Golf Course. The Comets tied for 11th place and were just a couple breaks away from a top 10 finish. The team tallied up a 377 led by Freshman Owen Chapman with a 90(41/49) in his first Varsity 18 hole invitational. Max Sommers(41/51) and Gage Thomas(45/47) both carded 92. Senior, Luke Graham(54/49), fired a 103*. Brayden Unger(50/63) shot a 113 in his first varsity appearance for the Comets. Coach Rentschler commented, "The team has improved a lot over last season. We were a little disappointed in the outcome as we believe 360 is easily attainable for this group, but for our 2nd match, it is a major improvement over last season. Our team has a lot of upside and we look forward to showcasing the hard work they have put in." Senior, Max Sommers believes the Comets can be close to 340 later in the season as the team settles in. The Comets will compete Friday night @Pondview and again on Saturday in the Caston Invitational at Round Barn.
