Caston High School three-sport athlete, sophomore Madisyn Douglass, has been chosen this week to serve a two-year term on the IHSAA's Student Advisory Committee. The SAC is a prestigious board made up of just 18 juniors and seniors from around the state, with at least one member representing each of the four classes. Douglass will represent Caston and all schools in 1A. The IHSAA received over 80 nominations from principals and athletic directors around the state. The list was narrowed down to 20, who then were interviewed by the current members and IHSAA assistant commissioners this past Sunday. Douglass received the phone call that she made the cut on Monday evening. "I am so excited for this opportunity and to learn more about everything the IHSAA does. It is a great opportunity to grow as a leader and I can’t wait to be a part of it," she said. According to the IHSAA website, some responsibilities of the committee include attending four meetings per year, attending an IHSAA State Championship during each sports season, and attending the Fall Area Student Meeting to be held at Plymouth High School. "Madi was an easy choice to put up for the nomination, and I'm not surprised the interview committee saw the same traits that we see daily," said Caston Athletic Director Trent Tocco. "She's a tremendous asset to our teams and athletic department - the way she goes about her business, whether it's on the floor or in the classroom, she sets the bar. I have zero doubts that she'll be an asset to the IHSAA SAC. We're proud to have her representing Caston Jr/Sr. High School." She'll officially begin her 2 year commitment at the annual Student Leadership Conference. This year's event will be held on July 8th at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
