Comet Golfers remained undefeated in their 2nd 9-hole match of the season Friday night at Pond View Golf Course against North Miami. Comets scored a 190 and North Miami scored a 201. Senior, Max Sommers, was the medalist of the event carding a 43. Gage Thomas came in 2nd with a 46 and Luke Graham brought in a 49. Other Varsity scores were Jace Rentschler with a 52 and Owen Chapman with a 54. JV was defeated 216 to 213 by North Miami. Notable scores for the JV Comets were Reed Sommers(50), Chas Warpenburg(53), Isaac Albright(54), Brody Brewer(59), and Brayden Unger(59). Coach Rentschler commented after the round, "2-0 is a great start to the season! We should have shot closer to 170-180, but we'll take the win. I have high hopes for this group. Initially, I thought 180 would be a great team goal, but based on the talent and passion of this group, I believe at some point this season we will start getting closer to 170. It's a great group of young men that we have and we need to just keep knocking down the shots we know we are capable of hitting. All these guys have great potential to go low. We just need to get everyone clicking at the same time and it should be something special to watch. I can't give enough credit to Coach Foxworth who joined our staff this year. I attribute our 2-0 start to the drive of our players and his ability to help get them dialed in." Comets will compete Saturday at Round Barn Golf Course in Rochester at 8am in the Caston Invite.
