The Comet Boys Golf Team traveled to Chesapeake Run Golf Club Monday night and defeated the Blue Jays of North Judson with a score of 187-203. Comets were led with another spectacular performance by sophomore, Gage Thomas. Thomas had 3 pars, 6 bogeys, and carded a 42 for the Comets as he took Medalist in the event. Luke Graham and Jace Rentschler both shot 48 followed by Brayden Unger with a 49. Max Sommers shot a 50. Though the scores did not count in the team totals, Owen Chapman fired a 46 and Chas Warpenburg fired a career low, 48. Coach Rentschler commented afterwards, "Chesapeake has to be one of the best courses around. We could play there every week if North Judson would have us. The layout of the course is just amazing, and the greens are so much fun with all the undulation. The owners have really brought that course back around. I was very proud of the team tonight as we saw a ton of improvement across our roster of 15. We had 8 guys fire 50 and under and that is pretty amazing considering only one of the players had ever seen that tract. That was our best score of the season in a 9-hole match and we are still leaving a lot of strokes out there. We are pleased to be 3-0 in 9-hole matches this season and we are super excited to have a couple days off before we battle in the Pioneer Invitational on Saturday where I feel like we can be a top contender for the title."
